The IRCC Minister, John Mc Callum recently announced changes in the immigration policy after visiting Peel region, which was promised by the Liberal Party during their election campaign of 2015. The decision was taken after discussions with the local members of the Parliament and the stakeholders. The prime agenda of discussion was the slow process of family class immigration, which takes almost two years for a hand and wife to reunite, which is not acceptable. Mc Callum mentioned that the government is concerned for the immigration issues related to family class immigration and his team is working on new and improved family class Canada immigration policies.
Apart from family class immigration, the immigration department of Canada is also trying to simplify conditions for overseas students to become permanent residents. Canada is in competition with US, UK and Australia in overseas education system, and is trying to offer more points to international students so that it will be easier for them to migrate to Canada. The Canadian government wants overseas student to become permanent residents as they are young, educated, and fluent in English or French. Overall it’s good news for overseas students in Canada, as the changes in immigration policies will impact them positively.
